Ethos and aims

Rectory Lane Nursery is committed to providing all the children in our care with resources and activities which will support their development and education across all seven areas of learning.  We aim to do this by providing lots of opportunities for self selection and independent learning through our long term planning, also by observing the children and planning focused activities and adult lead activities with resources that follow the children’s interests and needs. We offer learning through play, and we are guided by the Early Years foundation stage which is the current government legislation.

The principles of the EYFS are:

  • Unique child
  • Positive relationships
  • Enabling Environments
  • Learning and Development

The overarching aim of the EYFS is to help children achieve the following outcomes:

  • Staying safe
  • Being Healthy
  • Enjoying and Achieving
  • Making a positive Contribution
  • Achieving economic well being

We help children achieve this by:

  • Setting standards
  • Promoting equality of opportunity
  • Creating a framework for partnership working
  • Always trying to improve quality and consistency
  • Laying a secure foundation for future learning and development
